Damien Chazelle’s La La Land (2016) (starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling) was one of last year’s big hits that everyone from your aunt to your sorority sister to your favorite LA-based celebrity lost their shit over. If you are like me, you went from “no, thanks” to “hmm, maybe” to forgetting it to watching it on a plane on your way to Paris. It’s all about how hard is to be #young but more specifically to be #young and trying to make it Hollywood or you know, just having a dream in general. Also it’s a musical with interesting colors. That can really go either way on the fun scale.
Is it fun?
Fun, but so, so sad (!?). I almost cried on a plane.
*side note- Am I the only who hated the opening number with a passion?
